About Children’s Choir

Children’s Choir (CC) is composed of treble voices of 5th to 8th grades who completed the training choirs or has the ability of the equivalent level determined through the audition process.

In the Children's Choir, the emphasis is on:

- Reinforcement of basic musicianship and solfege skill through sight-singing, ear training, and rhythm exercises.

- Support the expansion of the vocal range by emphasizing head-voice singing and group voice lessons.

- Teaching active listening as a musical tool

- Preparation for the upper level performing choirs.


About Chamber Choir

The Chamber Choir is an SATB ensemble composed of advanced singers in the 7th through 12th grades. Singers are placed in choir levels by audition according to age, maturity, music ability, theory knowledge and space availability. Alongside a challenging and diverse repertoire, the Chamber Choir will focus on solidifying healthy vocal production, and continued excellence in singers' musicianship knowledge. Students in the Chamber Choir will have opportunities to attend local or regional choral festivals.

In Chamber Choir, the emphasis is on:

- Developing changed voices and strengthening maturing voices with challenging repertoire and vocalises.

- Developing Choral vocabulary through score reading.

- Building and solidifying knowledge of diatonic and chromatic solfege.

- Team Building through work in sections and using this as a tool to explore culturally responsive concepts within music.

- Leadership building through strengthening independence within sections.

About Honors Choir

The Honors Choir (HC) is made up of selected treble voices who have demonstrated the highest quality of musicianship and vocal abilities in our careful audition process. The ensemble is composed of 7th-12th graders dedicated to intensive and fast pace rehearsals and committed to national or international festivals and competitions.

In the Honors choir, the emphasis is on:

- Guiding choristers with a deep commitment to choral singing to become disciplined artists and leaders.

- High quality and challenging choral repertoires in all genres as well as newly commissioned works.

- Pulling together the strong foundation of technical skill and sight-reading, alongside the artistic pursuits of active listening, and expressive interpretations.

- Regular group voice lessons for more individualized instruction.
